[Also in Division H1] A coil for electricity meters comprises a tubular coil former 1 on which the winding 9 is mounted, thin walled annular channel shaped members 2, 3 in engagement with each end of the former 1, the outer portions 11, 12 of the two members overlapping to provide the winding with an external covering having a rounded square external section and having recesses 17, 18 which provide a longitudinal slot in one corner of the covering, and a lead through member comprising a plate 4 curved to conform with the corner of the covering and which is retained in the slot by lips on the channel shaped members and two outwardly directed hollow extensions 5, 6 on the plate with a reinforcing strip 21 between them and which are provided with terminals 7, 8 to which the leads from the windings are electrically connected. The former and housing may be made from thermoplastic such as polyethylene and the winding may be saturated with insulating lacquer after it is wound on former 1.
