766,905. Transformers. REYROLLE & CO., Ltd., A., and MOSER-GLASER & CO., AKT.-GES. June 15, 1954 [June 15, 1953; Feb. 1, 1954; Feb. 5, 1954; Feb. 5, 1954; April 13, 1954], No. 17513/54. Class 38 (2). [Also in Group XXXVI] The insulation of a current or potential transformer is in two parts, the inner part comprising solid non- rigid type of material such as paper, wax or a thermoplastic material, the outer part comprising a casing of low-moulding pressure synthetic resin. A current transformer comprises a core 10 surrounded by a toroidal secondary winding 11. A primary winding and lead-in conductor are contained in a ring 12 and tube 13, the ring 12 being linked with the core 10. The ring 12 and tube 13 are embedded in an insulation 14 of wound paper which is then embedded in a casing 15 of synthetic resin. Stress distributing foils 17 are arranged in the paper insulation 14 and an earthed metal coating 19 is applied to the bulbous end of the casing 15. The embodiment shown in Fig. 3 is of a straight-through bushing type current transformer in which the wound paper insulation 33 is partly surrounded by the core 30 and partly by the synthetic resin casing 34. The synthetic resin casing may only be applied at the ends, a metal tube forming the centre part of the casing. The inner part of the insulant may be impregnated with any suitable material which may be maintained at a pressure higher than atmospheric. The outer casing may be in two parts which may be of different resins. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 3 the magnetic core 30 and the secondary winding 31 may be replaced by an earthed metal flange, the apparatus then becoming a condenser-type bushing insulator.
