Abstract
734,205. Transformers. ENGLISH ELEC. TRIC CO., Ltd. Oct. 2, 1953 [Oct. 6, 1952], No. 24961/52. Class 38 (2). A transformer of the kind having a highvoltage winding split into a number of seriallyconnected coils 3 ... 6 has each coil wound in two or more parts which form a single unit mechanically but are insulated from each other and are then connected in series for concerted magnetization of a magnetic core. Each coil is wound from two conductors 8, 9 laid on simultaneously the outer end of the conductor 8 being connected to the high-voltage terminal by a conductor 10. The inner end of the conductor 8 is then connected to the outer end of conductor 9, the inner end of conductor 9 finally being connected to the conductor 8 in the adjacent coil. By this construction the voltage between conductors and the selfcapacity between the parts of the coil are reduced. In another embodiment each coil is divided into three parts, and during winding one of the two conductors is broken at the centre of the winding to provide one full part and two half-parts which are then suitably connected.
