Abstract
731,617. Transformers. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Sept. 4, 1953 [Sept. 5, 1952], No. 22380/52. Drawings to Specification. Class 38(2). A transformer has a high voltage winding which is split into a number of serially connected disc-like coils wound with round wire, each coil being wrapped-after being woundwith a conductive covering, one end of the covering being connected to an end of the coil whilst the other end of the coil is connected to the covering of the adjacent coil. Thus the covering of a coil constitutes an active turn of the coil and also serves as the connecting means between one coil and an adjacent one. Further, the conductive wrapping introduces capacity between the windings of each coil and the wrapping thereof. The wrapping may be a copper tape or an insulating tape coated on one side with a conductive layer.
