Abstract

961,870. Impedance transforming networks; electric transformers. TEKTRONIX Inc. Oct. 20, 1961 [June 26, 1961], No. 37722/61. Headings HIT and H1W. A take-off for extracting a small quantity of energy from a transmission line comprises primary and secondary windings on an annular core surrounding a gap in one of the conductors of the line. As shown, a gap 28 in the outer conductor of a coaxial line 20, 24 is surrounded by an annular core 10 made of ferrite. A number of primary windings 14 are made from single turns of bare wire connected at their ends to opposite sides of the gap. The secondary is formed from two insulated conductors 16, 18 wound adjacent the primary windings 14 in the manner indicated in Fig. 1 and forming a pair of balanced transmission lines. They are connected in parallel to the conductors of an output coaxial line. The outer conductors of the feed-through line 20, 24 and of the output coaxial line are surrounded by ferrite rings 38 to isolate the outer conductors from the balanced lines so that they may be earthed.
