Abstract

823,421. Transformers. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Oct. 25, 1956, No. 32588/56. Class 38 (2). A high-frequency transformer comprises a ferrite core 5, a spirally wound inner winding 6 of conductive tape and a helically wound outer winding 8 of wire, the winding 6 being fed through terminals 34 and being provided with a half-turn extension 3-7 which forms an electrostatic screen, the terminal 3 being earthed. Points 7 and 9 have equal but opposite potentials with respect to earth so that the capacity couplings between the portion 3-7 of the winding 6 and the winding 8 and the portion 3-9 and the winding 8 cancel each other out and the transformer therefore behaves as though an earthed screen were interposed between the windings.
