689,195. Radio receiving systems. IJZER, J. R. June 30, 1960 [July 9, 1949], No. 16445/50. Class 40 (v). In an arrangement for suppressing disturbances in a radio receiver by electrical apparatus, the-aerial 1 is arranged outside the disturbance region and is connected by a conductor 2 to one side of the primary P of a transformer a conductor 3 which is parallel and close to the conductor 2 being connected to the other side of the winding P. The secondary S is connected to the receiver and an earthed metal screen 5 is arranged between the windings. The transformer primary, Fig. 2 (not shown), is not conductively connected to earth and is arranged in two equal parts which are wound in opposite directions and surrounded by a cylindrical metal screen, the secondary winding being arranged over the metal screen. Since the disturbance voltage in conductors 2 and 3 is substantially equal no disturbance voltage is induced into the secondary winding S. It is stated that by avoiding a conductive earth connection to the primary winding and utilizing the capacitance between the primary winding and the earthed screen the symmetry of the arrangement is improved.
