Abstract
720,731. Transformers. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Feb. 20, 1953, No. 4789/53. Class 38 (2). A high-frequency transformer comprises two insulating bodies 3, 4, each having at least one flat surface, two flat spiral conducting windings 5, 6 being each mounted on a flat surface of a corresponding one of the insulating bodies, and a tubular casing 1 of an insulating material within which are mounted the two bodies with the spiral windings facing one another and conducting leads 2 to which the ends of the spiral windings are connected. The spiral windings are placed on the flat surfaces of the insulating bodies and secured thereto by an adhesive such as a cellulose cement. Before the adhesive is set and after the outer end of the winding has been attached to a lead 2 the inner end is drawn through the centre hole 8 until the desired selfinductance of the winding is obtained. The two windings are then inserted in the tube 1 face-to-face, the mutual inductance being determined by the axial distance between the windings according to the amount of filling 7 used. Seals 10 secure the bodies in the tube, the seals 10 and the filling 7 may be of similar material such as a mineral wax or a synthetic resin.
