Abstract
The primary winding 5 of an electric coil assembly, for example for a mains transformer, has one end covered with a portion of an insulating tube 9 of e.g. soft silicon rubber and the secondary coil 7 has one end remote from the covered end of the primary covered similarly as at 10, the adjacent surfaces of primary and secondary being insulated from one another by insulation, and connections are made to the windings at the end of each winding not covered by insulation. The insulating portions 9 and 10 may be separate and the insulation 11 may be paper, or the insulation 9, 10 and 11 may be portions of one single tube. The coil former 1 is of synthetic resin, and the connections 13, 15 to the windings are led through slots 17, 19 in the flanges 2, 3 of the former. The insulating portions 9, 10 if separate pieces, may be preformed.
