Abstract

1,246,458. Transformers. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 10 Dec., 1968 [13 Dec., 1967], No. 58659/68. Heading HIT. The inwardly facing sides of flanges 3, 5 on synthetic resin coil former 1 are stepped to provide a plurality, e.g. as shown, three, of concentric winding spaces of successively increasing axial length, the flanges having slits 9, 11, 13 and 15, 17, 19, respectively, extending inwardly from the outside edge to a winding space so as to accept an end of a winding, and at least one slit extending to an inner winding space has near its closed end a projection 25 on the slit wall to prevent displacement of a winding end into an adjacent winding space. Windings may be insulated from each other by an insulating layer 20. A terminal wire 31 secured in a slot 33 anchors end 30 of a winding in slot 19 and is soldered to it. Gap 35 between the halves of iron core 7 may be filled with a cement containing glass grains.
