Abstract
1354304 Transformers L L MARTON 19 April 1971 [12 March 1970] 23795/71 Heading HIT In an arrangement similar to that disclosed in Patent Specification 1,239,342, tubular windings 102, 106 of a transformer are provided with heat conducting members 104, 105 adjacent to them, the heat conducting members terminating in fins 104.1, 105.1, which are bent round to lie perpendicular to the axis of the tubular winding (as at 104.2), and with the ends of groups of fins being connected together by connecting members as at 105.3. The planes of the fins are bent round so as to lie parallel to the axis of the winding. The arrangement may be applied to different transformer constructions (Figs. 2, 3, 4, not shown). As disclosed in Fig. 5, a low voltage winding 118 is provided with fins 119, and a high voltage winding having coils whose width decreases outwardly has fins 126, 127 extending between layers. The ends of the fins are held in position by insulating separator elements 129. Further additional fin structures (133, 134) may be provided on the transformer or its casing (Fig. 6, not shown). Arrangements whereby coils are wound and coil laminations are disposed therein so as to minimize the space between core and windings are also disclosed (Figs. 8-21, not shown).
