Abstract

1,076,365. Transformer. SANSUI ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Nov. 18, 1965 [April 8, 1965], No. 49031/65. Heading H1T. A low-frequency miniature transformer comprises an outer box-like core 43 (Fig. 13) of magnetic material (e.g. permalloy or chromium-iron alloy) which contains a tubular bobbin 37 of magnetic material, whose end flanges are formed from the tube of the bobbin, and which makes close magnetic contact with two opposing inner walls of the box 43 through the flanges. The cylinder and inside flange surfaces of the bobbin are coated or taped with insulating material then the coil 50 is wound on to the bobbin and the leads 51 to 55 connected to respective terminals 57 to 62 of the terminal plate 56 of phenol resin. The coil 50 is secured to the terminal plate 56 at the recess 63 and secured in the outer core 43 at the outside flange surfaces. The bobbin is slit in an axial direction and the flanges are provided with a plurality of radial slits to reduce eddy currents. The bobbin may have one, three or four flange segments (Figs. 5 to 8, not shown), or may be made of ferrite as a solid cylinder with disc flanges (Fig. 9, not shown).
