Abstract

839,477. Building slabs. SMALL, E. B. May 23, 1958 [Feb. 26, 1957], No. 6345/57. Class 87(1) In a precast concrete slab 3 formed with a peripheral rib 2 defining a recess 5, the base of the recess is permanently shuttered by a hardboard sheet 1. A reinforcing mat 4 of chicken wire may be interposed between the hardboard and concrete layers. The rib 2 is reinforced by steel wires or rods 6; bolt-holes 7 and railing fillets (not shown) also are provided in the peripheral rib. Two such slabs may be joined together by a peripheral concrete joint 8 with air gaps 9, Fig. 3, to form a hollow block. The inner surface of the slabs forming the hollow block may be coated with plaster.
