Abstract
577,677. Building slabs. DYKE, H., and SIMPLIFIED BRICK CONSTRUCTIONS, Ltd. Feb. 3, 1944, No. 1991. [Class 87 (i)] [Also in Group V] Building slabs particularly of the type having a layer of bricks and a layer of concrete are made in a mould having removable side and end plates and a pallet, preferably of grid form, to hold the bricks in position (see Group V). A slab has an outer layer of bricks 10 joined together by mortar or cement 13, and bars 45 which are threaded through holes in the bricks. The inner layer 47 consists of concrete which may be reinforced. The two layers are united, either with or without a cavity, by ties 41 which have holes at both ends to take the bar 45 and a reinforcing bar in the concrete. The bricks may be so arranged that the edges of the slabs are toothed and the concrete may have grooves formed along its edges, to provide bonding means for adjacent slabs. The bricks forming the outer layer of the slab are bonded together by placing mortar on the surface of the bricks, while they are held in position on the pallet, and causing the mortar to pass down the bonding spaces by vibrating the mould.
