Abstract

432,202. Composite building - slabs; walls. DYKE, H. G., 14, Langham Place, Regent Street, London. Jan. 22, 1934, No. 2170. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i)] Brick-faced concrete walls are made by using as permanent shuttering slabs which are formed by laying a number of thin bricks B in a mould, pressing strips C of felt or like material in the joints, and filling up the mould with concrete to form a backing. Blocks of wood A form gaps in the ends for bonding, and fillets E form grooves in the edges. Wire clips or other fixing means for securing the slabs to the main concrete wall may be embedded in the concrete backing which may be reinforced with wires, expanded metal, &c. The bricks may be roughened, recessed, or grooved on the inner face to key with the concrete. Specifications 17020/96, [Class 87], and 355,301 are referred to. According to the Provisional Specification, the bricks may be of stone, marble, tile, terracotta, or other material.
