In a building comprising floors made of reinforced concrete beams 10 laid side by side, and reinforced concrete columns 18, the columns are located in recesses 13 in the beams and are held by dowel pins 22 fitted into the end of the column and into the joint 12 between an adjacent pair of floor beams. The columns may be similarly secured to roof ties 15 which may be formed as described in Specification 723,675.
