Abstract

579,453. Building units. UNIVERSAL ASBESTOS MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and READ, C. April 13, 1944, No. 6868. [Class 87 (i)] A building unit comprises an outer facing A of asbestos cement spaced by wooden or other frame members C, D from a backing B of plaster-board &c. A central vertical rib a<1> and side half-ribs a', a' are provided on the outer face, the abutting half-ribs of adjacent units being provided with a cover strip F nailed thereto. The half-ribs are slotted at d' to receive dowels E and may be extended at their lower ends to form stanchions. The units may be of storey height and the facing A of upper units may be extended to overlap the lower units.
