Abstract

583,988. Composite building units. THOMAS, R. A., and BAILEY & WHITES, Ltd. Sept. 11, 1944, No. 17295. [Class 87 (i)] A building unit comprises asbestos cement sheets 3, 4 spaced apart by wooden frame members 1, 2 which preferably extend beyond the sheets at their ends. Adjacent units may be secured together by bolts and the joint covered by a metal or other strip 14 engaged in recesses in the frame members. Intermediate frame members 11 may be provided. The frame members may be suitably rebated at corners and at junctions of walls, floors and roofs. The units may be faced with fibre board, plaster board, wood, rubber, linoleum &c. and may be of storey height.
