Abstract
813,897. Propellent powders. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO., E. I. Nov. 1, 1957, No. 34232/57. Class 9(2) Nitrocellulose is mixed with finely pulverized urea, the mixture formed into a colloid which is extruded and formed into grains and the urea is leached therefrom, preferably by water at about 100‹C. Preferred nitrocelluloses have a nitrogen content of from 12.85 to 13.25 per cent. The mixture may be colloided in butylacetate/ ethyl alcohol, ether/alcohol or ethyl acetate/alcohol. It is preferred to use 10 to 100 parts per 100 parts by weight of nitrocellulose. Diphenylamine may be present in the compositions as a stabilizer.
