Abstract

1419858 Propellants SOC NATIONALE DES POUDRES ET EXPLOSIFS 14 Dec 1973 [14 Dec 1972] 58119/73 Heading C1D A propellent powder consists predominantly of polyvinyl nitrate and nitrocellulose in a weight ratio of 0À10 to 0À66 and also contains a stabilizer and a combustion moderator. Preferably the nitrogen content of the polyvinyl nitrate is at least 14% and that of the nitrocellulose more than 12À8%. The stabilizer included may be 2-nitro-diphenylamine; other optional ingredients are potassium sulphate and potassium nitrate, the latter of which may be eliminated by soaking in water to yield a porous product. Small cylinders formed by extrusion and cutting may be coated with graphite and camphor as combustion moderators,
