Abstract

808,620. Explosive compositions. STANDARD OIL CO. April 28, 1954, No. 12382/54. Class 9(2) Ammonium nitrate particles are coated with a comminuted "H 2 S treated ironferrocyanide" to inhibit caking at atmospheric humidity, the '"H 2 S treated ironferrocyanide" being prepared by contacting iron-ferrocyanide with hydrogen sulphide gas at a temperature between about +20‹C. and about +65‹C. to produce a solid reaction product containing between about 2 and 7 weight per cent of sulphur. Soluble or insoluble Prussian blue is used. The nitrate particles are mixed with the ferrocyanide before or during grinding, which is thereby facilitated.
