Abstract
689,709. Fuel-injection pumos. DAIMLERBENZ AKT.-GES. Oct. 31, 1950 [Oct. 31, 1949], No. 26541/50. Class 102 (i). In a fuel - injection pump, the piston 4 controls the suction port 6 and carries a roller 19 that engages a cam 14 that actuates the piston on the injection stroke. The suction stroke is effected by a cam 12 acting on a non-rotatable pin 21 on which is mounted the roller 19. The cam 12 is driven from the engine and the drive is transmitted to cam 14 through rods 13 so that the cam 14 can be adjustable axially to vary the stroke of the piston. The arrangement ensures that the suction stroke of the pump occurs immediately after the injection stroke. The suction cam may also be adjustable.
