Abstract
649,619. Magnetrons. PATELHOLD PATENTVERWERTUNGS- & ELEKTROHOLDING AKT.-GES. July 7, 1948, No. 18247. Convention date, July 30, 1947. [Class 39 (i)] In a quarter-wave, cavity resonator, magnetron the circuit length of the part of the cathode and/or heater surrounded by the highfrequency magnetic field is made not less than the longest wave-length produced by the magnetron to reduce high-frequency currents in the cathode circuit. A directly heated cathode may be formed as a spiral, Fig. 2 (not shown), and may be overwound with nickel wire 52 covered with an emitting layer ; additional covering may be provided to increase the radiation at the hotter part in the centre of the cathode, Fig. 5. In an indirectly heated cathode the nickel wire may be wound round the ceramic insulator, Fig. 6 (not shown), or the cathode surface formed like a bellows 72, surrounding the heater 71, Fig. 7.
