Abstract
633,947. Liquid-fuel burners. ANGLO-IRANIAN OIL CO., Ltd., and DIGHT, S. R. Feb. 14, 1947, No. 4418. [Class 75 (i)] A swirl type fuel nozzle comprises a single member having a head a, Fig. 1, adapted to form a fluid-tight fit with the burner tube b, and a tubular portion c of reduced cross section forming an annular passage d within the burner tube through which oil is supplied, the rearward end of the part c being closed by a plug g formed with an enlarged head having rounded portions, which act as a guide in the burner tube b, and with flat portions to allow oil to pass into the annular passage d and thence through tangential passages e into the whirl chamber which is substantially cylindrical in shape within the tubular portion of the tip and tapers gradually to the outlet orifice h, Fig. 2. The head a has a conical forward end and a series of flats I at the rear end to serve as a nut to which a spanner may be applied for removal of the tip when necessary.
