Class 69 (iii) [Also in Group XI] In a liquid fuel burner having a terminal cap 19 and a removable unit assembly comprising a central spray member 1 held by a central plug 7 inside an encircling body 14 provided with an annular cavity 22 and a cap 20 having tangential holes 21 for whirling air, steam or gaseous fluid and delivering it as a conically converging stream through an annular orifice 221 surrounding the liquid spray from an orifice 4, the rear surface of the unit is dome shaped to take up a closed line seating with a forwardly diverging mouth 15 of a tubular liquid supply member 13 when held there against by the pressure exerted on its front face by screwing a terminal cap 19 onto member 13. Shims 201 of varying thickness, or alternatively a spring, are placed between the shoulder 14<SP>1</SP> of member 14 and the end cap 20 to vary the width of the annular conical passage 22<SP>1</SP>. Air, steam or gaseous fluid is supplied to the annular chamber formed between caps 19, 20 through holes 17 formed in member 13.
