Abstract
485,322. Blowpipe burners. ZOBEL, T. April 9, 1937, No. 10207. Convention date, April 9, 1936. [Class 75 (i)] In an oxygen nozzle of the Laval type for cutting torches, that part following the smallest cross-section has an outwardly diverging conical form which is followed by an outwardly curved portion terminating in a cylindrical outlet orifice, the wall of the conical portion and tangents to the following curved portion, in axial planes, not exceeding an angle of 10‹ with respect to the central axis of the nozzle and the largest diameter D<2> of the nozzle being not greater than twice the smallest diameter D<1>. The curved portion preferably corresponds in longitudinal sections approximately to a portion of a flat ellipse ending at the minor axis. In a modification, the curved portion at the inlet of the nozzle merges directly into the outwardly curved portion, the conical portion being thus replaced by a curved portion.
