Abstract
364,063. Gas and vapour burners. GAS LIGHT & COKE CO., CLARK, J. G., and MASTERMAN, C. A., 84, Horseferry Road, London. Sept. 30, 1930, No. 29314. [Class 75 (i).] An atmospheric gas or vapour burner comprises a restricted tapering throat or inlet 2 which extends outwardly to form a diverging bore 1 provided along its length with a plurality of primary air inlet slots or holes 4. The burner may be of circular, flat, oval, square or other cross section. The wall or walls 5 may be made of metal, fireclay or the like and may be curved in longitudinal section. The tip 7 may be provided with a perforated head or cap of converging form or a detachable perforated or unperforated tube. In a modified burner, the fuel is supplied from a pipe 3, Fig. 2, through a ring of restricted throats or inlets into an annular outwardly-diverging space 9 formed between two discs 10, 11, a plurality of primary air inlet slots or holes 11<1> being provided in one or each disc. The axes of the inlets 11<1> may be parallel, or inclined, to the axis of the pipe 3. Either disc may be flat and the other conical or both discs may be conical. The discs may be made of metal or fireclay or one of metal and the other of fireclay. The fuel burns within the' burner when the pressure is low, and as the pressure is increased the flame travels up or outwardly of the burner.
