Abstract
320,948. Mason, J. V. July 28, 1928. Open tray burners. -A liquid fuel burner comprises an inner body a having a conical or pyramidal upper surface. b to which the fuel is supplied under slight pressure from a pipe d and an outer body a<1> forming an air chamber e around the inner body a. Air supplied to the body a by a pipe f is given a swirling motion by deflectors i on entering the chamber e and is then deflected by the inwardly curved upper end of the outer body a<1> to impinge on the surface b. In a modification, a rectangular inner body is formed with two cones on its upper surface and oil is supplied to the apex of each cone. The air supplied to the interior of the inner body issues through inclined orifices into the chamber between the inner and outer bodies and is directed by the upper end of the outer body on to the burning vapour.
