This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in burners and is of a vide a gas burner of the above type in which gases conveyed to the burner through a plurality of relatively small tubes to insure perfect carburation and also to compensate for low gas pressure.
With the above and other general objects in view that will become apparent as the nature of the invention is better understood,
the same consists in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed.
In the accompanying drawing wherein like reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views,
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the burner so constructed in accordance with the present invention showing the burner of T-head formation with the two burner tips;
Figure 2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view showing the plurality of gas supply nipples carried by the gas collection chamber of the burner head;
Figure 3 is a vertical cross-sectional view through the outer end of the burner head showing the double burner tip and Figure 4 is a cross-sectional view taken on line 4l4 of Figure 2.
Referring more in detail to the accompanying drawing which shows the preferred embodiment of the invention, there is illustrated a gas burner comprising a part in the form of a gas and air mixer generally designated by the reference numeral 1 and a part 2 representing the burner proper or tip end of the burner which is herein illustrated as of 59 double tip formation. The air and'gas mixer part numbered 1 comprises a pipe section 3 that is externally threaded at one end and tapered toward its other end as at 4 to form a reduced opening in the pipe with an internally threaded flange 5 projecting inwardly and outwardly of said opening as clearly illustrated in Figure 2. The tapered side portion 4 of the pipe section 3 is provided with a plurality of air inlet openings 6 for the aid of combustion in a manner to be later described.
Theburner head comprises a pipe section 7 that is externally threaded atone end, the externally threaded ends of the pipe sections 3 and? being connected together by the cou- 5 pling ring 8. The forward end of the pipe section 7 carries a cross-head 9 with an upwardly directed burner tip 10 at each end of the cross-head that is slightly inclined forwardly as illustrated in Figure 2. The upper end of each burner tip 10 is open as at 11 and each opening has therein, a pair of upwardly diverging gas andflame deflecting plates 12 that are suitably secured within the opening to extend a short distance down into the burner tip and a greater distance upwardly and outwardly thereof as illustrated in Figure 3. The deflecting plates 12 provide for a relatively wide deflection of the flame or jet to direct the same over a greater area of the 8 object to be heated.
A gas nozzle 13 of stem formation is provided with an externally threaded enlarged end 14 that is received in the inner flange portion 5 of the pipe section 3 and is positioned axially of the pipe sections 3 and 7 the forward end of the stem nozzle 13 terminating in a point forwardly of the air inlet openings 6 as shown in Figure 2.
The gas supply for the burner head comprises a gas collection chamber 15 having an externally threaded reduced tubular extension 16 upon one end thereof that is received in the outer flange section 5 of the pipe 3 While the other end of the gas collection chamber 15 is provided with a plurality of tubular nipples 17 to which gas supply pipes are connected.
This invention is capable of many uses and can be constructed in difierent sizes to answer requirements. The provision of a plurality of nipples 17 communicate With the gas collection chamber 15 permit perfect operation of the burner in the presence of low gas pressure.
From the above detailed description of the invention, it is believed that the construction and operation thereof Will at once be apparent and While there is herein shown and described the preferred embodiment of the invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein Without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
What I claim as new is 1. A gas burner comprising a collecting chamber provided With a plurality of inlet nipples, anda threaded outlet section, a gas mixing chamber connected to said section and of rearwardly tapered form, With air inlets in its Wall, a gas nozzle connected to said mixing chamber in alignment with said out let section, a tubular pipe section coupled to said mixing chamber and a plurality of burner tip sections connected to said pipe section at a transverse angle.
2. Ina combined gas mixer and burner of the typedescribed, a mixing chamber consisting of a tubular section having a contracted endforminganinternally threaded connecting tube, and an inwardly projecting extension thereof, anda gas nozzle secured to said projecting extension in combination with a collectmg'chamber coupledto said connecting end, andfa pipe leading from said mixing chamberto a burner tip.
