Abstract
537,657. Heat radiating combustion tubes for furnaces. GIBBONS BROS., Ltd., MARLE, M. VAN, and WEBB, A. W. OGILVY-. Dec. 27, 1939, No. 32868. [Class 51 (i)] In gas or oil fired heat radiating elements for furnaces of the kind comprising three spaced tubes arranged concentrically. the outer tube being closed at its outer end and forming a combustion chamber fed with air and gas or vaporized oil from the inner tube and the annular space between the inner and intermediate tubes, the end portion 20 of the outer tube 12 is of bulbous form to form the combustion chamber supplied wih fuel and air from a mixing chamber 17 supplied from the pipe 14 and the annular space between the tubes 13, 14. The combustion products are led away through the annular space between the tubes 12, 13. The mixing chamber 17 is pro-. vided with vanes 18. In a modification the lower end of the tube 14 is formed as a nozzle and a Venturi-shaped passage is formed at the end of the tube 13. The lower end of the inner tube may terminate in a perforated flange and may be conical and perforated. The bulbous end 20 of the outer tube may be of circular or elliptical cross section.
