Abstract

552,876. Gas burners. TEMPLEWOOD, ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and MARTIN, E. J. Aug. 20, 1942, No. 11730. [Class 75 (i)] Low calorific value gas supplied to a nipple 1 is burnt at a cup 7 formed above a disc-Ike partition 6 in a tubular member 2, the partition 6 being formed with one or more central openings 8 discharging a core stream of gas at high velocity and a series of smaller openings 9 discharging a surrounding stream of gas at lower velocity which mixes with air flowing through openings 10 in the member 2. The combustion of the low velocity stream inside the cup 7 heats the main stream and maintains its combustion. The partition 7 may be formed by a separate member or be integral with or attached to the nipple 1.
