Abstract

583,206. Blowpipe burners. CHANCE BROS., Ltd., and BLAKE, H. V. June 4, 1945, No. 13964. [Class 75 (i)] A fitting for use in a blowpipe burner is adapted to be inserted in the burner head in place of a pre-mix fitting to enable the burner to operate as a jet-mix burner. In Fig. 1 is shown a known burner having a fitting i to collect the two gases separately and mix them before reaching the nozzle, this fitting being removable so that a fitting k, Fig. 2, may be inserted which separates the gases till they reach the nozzle, the fuel gas being supplied to the annular passage surrounding the fitting k and the oxygenating gas through the bore of the fitting to a nipple o. The nipple o may be formed by a group of small diameter passages.
