Abstract

568,428. Gas burners. KEITH, BLACKMAN, Ltd., and KEITH, G. Aug. 31, 1943. No. 14219. [Class 75 (i)] [Also in Group XII] A gas-burning radiator for drying paint, enamei, &c.. by infra-red rays without introducing combustion products into the drying chamber comprises a hollow annular burner structure 11 provided with mixture supply ports 12 disposed skew to the axis of the burner structure, a radiant 10 forming one wall of a combustion space 10a into which gaseous mixture is discharged from the ports, and a refractory member 18 extending within the burner structure and affording an outlet 17 from the combustion chamber. A combustible mixture of air and gas is supplied tangentially to a hollow annular casting 13 through an inlet 14. Between th'e casting 13 and the burner ring 11 is a thin perforated partition 15 to reduce turbulence. The radiant 10 is a disc which may be composed of an alloy known under the Registered Trade Mark " Staybrite," or of carborundum.
