Abstract

570,420. Liquid-fuel burners. HOUCHMAN, B. June 22, 1944, No. 11894. Convention date, Nov. 1, 1943. [Class 75 (i)] Liquid fuel supplied by gravity to a cup 1 burns, with air supplied through a perforated cylinder 2 surrounded by a wind shield 5, annular conical baffles 6 being provided inside the cylinder 2 to cause the air to mix intimately with the fuel vapours rising from the cup 1. In another construction the cylinder 2 is of greater diameter than the cup 1 and the baffles 6 are provided on their underfaces with baffles communicating a rotary movement to the air currents. In this construction the cup is raised above a base plate on which the cylinder 2 rests and a baffle arranged inside the windshield 5 causes the air to take a tortuous path before passing through the cylinder 2.
