Abstract
801,780. Liquid fuel burners. SOC. NATIONALE D'ETUDE ET DE CONSTUCTION DE MOTEURS D'AVIATION. Aug. 23. 1956 [Aug. 29, 1955], No. 25811/56. Class 75(1) In a device 9 for distributing fuel mixed with air into a combustion chamber 6 and comprising a transverse surface on to which an injector 7 projects a jet of fuel, the transverse surface has a convex central portion protruding towards the injector and is curved back at its periphery in the upstream direction. The device 9 is constituted by a circular plate of refractory material. It may have a central aperture 14 or a ring of apertures 15 or apertures spread over the whole of its surface or it may be formed by a porous material or by a substance having an infinite number of small holes. It is secured by rods 11 to guttershaped arms 3 connecting a hollow central body 1 to a conical body 2 secured to the combustion chamber. The injector 7 extends with clearance through an aperture in the hollow body 1, the clearance serving as an annular air passage. In a modification, a curved wall is spaced upstream from the peripheral portion of the plate 9 to form an annular passage for the discharge of fuel and air. The annular passage may contain a ring of blades for rotating the fuel and air or a substance comprising an infinite number of passages.
