Abstract
684,670. Fuel distribution. POWER JETS (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT), Ltd. Oct. 21, 1947, No. 27241/50. Divided out of 684,669. Drawings to Specification. Class 75(i) [Also in Group XII] In a combustion apparatus in which combustion is supported in a ducted flow of combustion supporting gas of flame extinguishing velocity, there being a stabilized pilot flame in the said flow, the fuel and gas being mixed in a diffusion zone upstream of the said pilot flame, flash back is avoided by distributing the fuel to give a non-uniform fuel/gas ratio over the cross-section of the flow. Further fuel may be introduced preferably downstream of the pilot flame zone, the distribution being complementary to the first mentioned fuel so as to make the overall fuel/gas ratio more uniform. Thus the distribution of the first-mentioned fuel, pulverulent or liquid, may be circumferential, while the second supply may be radially distributed. Specification 684,669 is referred to.
