Abstract
1530260 Liquid fuel burners CENTRAL ELECTRICITY GENERATING BOARD 5 Feb 1976 [14 Nov 1974] 49349/74 Heading F4T A burner comprises a distributor 11 producing a thin conical film or spray of oil 12, a duct 18 arranged to direct a main combustion air supply into the oil film or spray, and auxiliary means arranged to inject air or recirculated flue gas at a higher velocity than the main air flow into an annular region in front of the distributor to atmoize the film or spray and to promote recirculation (as at 20) within the conical fuel path. The atomizing air is supplied through an annular passage 13 and either an annular nozzle 15 or a plurality of angularly spaced nozzles 16 which may produce either divergent or parallel air flow; the nozzles 16 may be shaped to swirl the air. The auxiliary air flow may be about 5% of the required combustion air, and may be controlled independently of the main air flow.
