Abstract

614,516. Cable sleeves. PYROTENAX, Ltd., and CLOTHIER, G. D. July 18, 1946, No. 21519. [Class 36] A device for sealing the end of a cable comprises a pot or cylinder A having an internal screw-thread at one end which can be screwed on to the cable sheath C or on to a member B carried thereby, the other end being closed by base A<1>. One or more flexible insulating sleeves E extend through the closure member A<1> and accommodate the cable cores C<2>, the inner portion of the sleeves lying within the pot A and co-operating with collars to form beads E<2> on the cores C<2>. The thrust collar B may co-operate with a stop D threaded on to the cable sheath C. Before tightening, the pot is packed with a compound F suitable for cold sealing. The pot A is then tightened over the collar B, thus compressing the compound F.
