713,104. Mechanical couplings for cable sheathing or covering. UNIMATIC CORPORATION. Nov. 27, 1951, No. 27732/51. Class 3 8( I). A fitting for anchoring a cable to a junction box or other casing for an electrical device, comprises a pair of arcuate sections 2 I, 22, the inner ends of which are grooved at 30, 45, to receive the wall of an opening in the junction box. Said inner ends are expanded into engagement with the wall of the junction box by pivoting the sections about flat or pointed surfaces 39 on section 21. The bringing together of the outer ends of the sections clamps a cable passing through the fitting, projections 40 engaging the cable sheath, and the ends are maintained in the clamping position by screws 24 passing through lugs on the sections. In a modification, Fig. 13, the inner ends of the sections 121, 122 have partial screwthreads 152, 154 for engaging a screw-threaded opening in a junction box 123, the fitting being applied to the junction box as in the previous embodiment. The fitting may be constructed to extend straight or at various angles from the junction box and the screws 24 may be replaced by a screw cap engaging a tapered screw thread on the outer ends of the sections.
