720,608. Mechanical couplings for cable armouring, sheathing or covering; conduit fittings. KILFORD, W. R. Feb. 27, 1953 [April 25, 1952], No. 10436/52. Classes 36 and 38 (1). A clamping device for cable sheaths or conduits comprises a body 1 with a flange 2 to enable the device to be attached to a wall or appliance, the body having a roughened or embossed inner surface to grip the end of a cable sheath or conduit. In the embodiment shown, half-threads 5 to engage with the groove on a flexible metal conduit 9 are provided in the body 1, and the end wall 3 thickened to act as a stop for the conduit end and to prevent chafing of the cable 10. An earth terminal, Fig. 5 (not shown), may be provided on the flange, and a hole may be provided in the closed end of the body for an earth wire. In a modification, the innermost thread on the body may be longer than the others to act as an alternative stop for the end of the conduit,
