Abstract

708,320. Cable-end sleeves. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES, Ltd. June 19, 1953, [March 24, 1952], No. 7526/52. Class 36. In a sealing terminal comprising a cylindrical body fitting over the end of a cable sheath 2 and closed by an insulating disc 6 apertured for the passage of each conductor 3 and its flexible insulating sleeve 8, each sleeve 8 is one leg of a U-shaped loop, the other leg of which covers another conductor or extends between the disc 6 and body 1, the base 9 of the loop extending across the inside surface of the disc and having part of its wall removed so that both legs are open at 10 to the interior of the termination. Where the cable contains an even number of conductors they are accommodated by the appropriate number of pairs of sleeves. Where the number of conductors is odd, the odd one is covered by sleeve 18 (Fig. 2) joined by a portion 19, which is cut away to expose an entry II to the sleeve, to a short sleeve 12 bent over to lie in notch 13 in the edge of disc 6.
