Abstract

701,562. Cable-end sleeves. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES, Ltd. March 6, 1953 [March 7, 1952], No. 6051/52. Class 36 The end of a metal-sheathed cable is sealed by means of a cylindrical body 4, one end of which fits over and is secured to the cable sheath 1, the other end being closed by an insulating disc 6 which has an aperture for the passage of each of the cable conductors 2 and their flexible insulating sleeves 8, the material of the disc 6 being relatively harder than that of the sleeves 8, and the end 9 of each sleeve being held in an aperture by an adhesive. The body 4 may be screw-threaded on to the sheath 1 and packed with insulating compound 5. The sleeves and disc may be made of polyvinyl compounds, and after being stuck together are threaded over the bared ends 2<SP>1</SP> of the conductors. The disc is pressed against the compound 5 and held by turning the rim 7 of body 4 inwardly.
