Abstract

905,770. Cable and wire couplings. BURNDY CORPORATION. Jan. 30, 1961 [Feb. 4, 1960], No. 3381/61. Class 38 (1). [Also in Group XXV] A generally E-shaped cable or wire connector has a central web which may be manually bent or swung towards one of the outer arms to retain a tap conductor (not shown) therebetween while the other arm is hooked on to a run conductor, both arms then being compressed about the conductors. As shown, the web 9 is separate from the body 1 and has lugs 11 fitted into an outer groove 7 and staked therein to lock the web in place. The web may be integral with the body and have cavities at the junction therewith to assist bending thereof (Fig. 2' not shown), or slits and cavities may provide a doubly-fringed web (Fig. 3, not shown). In a further embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown) a ball and socket connection between the body and the web is provided.
