Abstract
983,986. Two-part couplings. VAN PRODUCTS Inc. March 16, 1961 [Feb. 23, 1961], No. 9726/61. Heading H2E. A socket connector comprises an insulating block 11 formed with separate longitudinally extending passages 16 each accommodating a contact 12 in alignment with a pinreceiving hole 18 in one wall of the block. The contact comprises a stem 36 bent at one end to form a socket 31 and formed at the other end with wings 37, 38 which are crimped to a cable 40. After attachment to its respective cable each contact is drawn into its passage 16 by the cable until the socket 31 abuts a shoulder 30 in the passage whereupon a projection 44 on the socket snaps into the hole 18 to retain the contact in position.
