In a two-part coupling 10, constituted by a plug member 11 having an insulation body formed by front and rear blocks 35, 36 retained by a split tubular shell 31 and a receptacle member 12 with insulation blocks 20, 21 retained by a split shell 16, the pin terminals 13 and socket terminals 14 mounted in bores in the insulation bodies are each formed at one end with a solder or crimping cup 50 for connection to conductor wires 51 and each has intermediate its ends an annular groove 54 receiving a resilient lock sleeve 58, e.g. of nylon, which is accommodated in a counterbore 62 in one of the blocks, e.g. rear block 36. Each contact, after connection to a wire 51 and with the lock sleeve 58 in position, is pushed into its receiving bore in the insulation body, the sleeve 58 being constricted by a frusto-conical surface 67 provided in the bore; upon reaching the counterbore 62 the sleeve expands and snaps into the counterbore to hold the contact in place. The lock sleeve may comprise a resilient split sleeve, Fig. 5 (not shown), or a circumferentially arranged series of spring fingers abuttable against a side shoulder of the groove 54, Fig. 6 (not shown).
