Abstract

977,346. Two-part couplings. UNITEDCARR Inc. April 4, 1962 [June 19, 1961], No. 13034/62. Heading H2E. A socket contact 10 for engaging the prong 11 of a plug contact is provided with a resilient clip 18 (Fig. 6) which may be seated in a groove 17 in the conductive socket contact wall with a terminal portion 20 of the clip extending through a slot 16 in the contact wall to frictionally engage the prong 11 of the plug contact. In a modification the end 23 of the clip, instead of having ears 24, 25 engaging recesses in the socket contact wall (Fig. 7, not shown), has an inturned portion (Fig. 5a, not shown) extending radially through the contact wall. The clip may be formed of hardened beryllium copper.
