Abstract

912,425. Two-part couplings. JACKSON, A., and JACKSON, B. A. Jan. 11, 1960 [Jan. 13, 1959], No. 971/60. Class 38 (1). A male or female contact is detachably secured in a bore 12 in an insulating body 10 by means of an adaptor element 18 which is slotted at one end to form spring members 25 terminating in rounded portions 26 for locking engagement with a projection on the contact. The adaptor is mounted by inserting the spring members 25 in the bore 12 until flanges 31 thereon spring out to engage a shoulder 17 in the bore and a rim 19 on the element 18 engages another shoulder 14 to secure the element in the bore. A contact 11 having a wire receiving socket 33 with a wall recessed at 34 for soldering purposes is then pushed into the adaptor 18 from below until a projection 28 thereon is imprisoned within the rounded adaptor portions 26. As shown, the upper portion of contact 11 is formed as a female contact and the walls thereof are slotted to form two spring fingers 38 which are biased towards each other to make firm contact with a contact-pin inserted from above.
