Abstract

921,565. Two-part couplings. AMP Inc. Oct. 31, 1961 [Nov. 21, 1960], No. 38854/61. Class 38 (1). An electrical connector, Fig. 1, comprises a generally trough-shaped contact portion 70 with two sidewalls 82 interconnected by a web 80, each sidewall having a longitudinally extending contact spring 92, the contact springs of the two sidewalls being bowed towards each other and the sidewalls and contact springs being so spaced as to accommodate a similar connector with the contact springs resiliently gripping the sidewalls of the similar connector. The making of two insulating blocks 102, 104 each carrying several connectors is described (Fig. 8) wherein each of the longitudinally extending apertures is formed with a projection 120 (Fig. 6, not shown), a shoulder 126 on which engages a tab 98 (Fig. 1) in the web 80 of a connector, preventing axial withdrawal. The forward ends of the connector sidewalls have outwardly divergent tips 100 to aid the guidance of each connector for engagement.
