Abstract

957,096. Two-part couplings. UNITEDCARR FASTENER CORPORATION. May 26, 1961 [Sept. 29, 1960], No. 19133/61. Heading H2E. An electrical contact member 12 for mounting in a passage 11 in a connector body 10, comprises a planar intermediate portion 13 and a rectangular tail 14 to which a wrapped connection may be made, the portion 13 having an opening 18 removably receiving a locking element 21 having a pair of outwardly biased resilient locking fingers 22 and 23 which on insertion of the contact from the rear face 33 of the body 10, snap behind abutments 30, 31 at the ends of channels 28, 29 formed in the passage 11, and serve to look the contact member 12 to prevent withdrawal in the direction of the finger 14. Stops 26, 27 formed on the portion 13 abut shoulders 34, 35 (Fig. 7, not shown), formed in the passage 11 so preventing removal of the contact member 12 in the direction of insertion. As shown, the contact member has a pair of spring legs 16, 17 forming a female socket 15 but it may be formed with a male contact. The contact member 12 may be removed from the body by means of a special tool (Fig. 6, not shown).
