Abstract

1,007,811. Two-part couplings. A.M.P. Inc. Aug. 5, 1964 [Aug. 5, 1963], No. 31736/64. Heading H2E. A conductive connector element has one or both of its edges bent round at 54, 74, 76, 78 or 54, 75, 77, 79 (Fig. 5) to form one or two socket portions each adapted to receive a blade 140 (Fig. 4) of a male contact which is retained when in position by a locking tongue 168 and is pressed on by a spring contact tongue 120. Fig. 2 shows the element in position in a connector body 10 receiving a printed circuit panel 110 between spring contact members 88 and with a projection 32 (Fig. 1, not shown) on a side wall of the connector body fitting into a channel 56 in the element between the socket portions and engaged at its ends by a holding tongue 58 and an end wall 68 of the element. In a further embodiment (Fig. 10) each connector element has only one spring contact member 280, which engages one side of a printed circuit board, each connector element being retained in a cavity 186 or 188 separated by a wall 210, by locking tongues 254. Aperture 220 permits access of a tool (Fig. 17, not shown) for removal of the element. Leads attached to the male connector 308, Fig. 14 (not shown), may be connected by inserting the latter into the sockets of an integral row of connector elements 300, mounted in an insulating body, all the receptacles being accessible from the same side of the body.
